Uttar Pradesh: A groom’s public display of affection for his bride, involving a kiss during their wedding in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, resulted in a conflict between their families.
The wedding venue in Ashok Nagar, Hapur, turned into a battleground when the bride’s family attacked the groom’s relatives on stage after the newlyweds shared a kiss during the varmala ceremony.
Enraged by the groom’s act, an argument erupted between the two families. Shortly after, members of the bride’s family climbed onto the stage with sticks and attacked the groom’s relatives. The clash resulted in injuries to six people, including the bride’s father.
The police were called, and seven individuals from both families were detained. The injured were promptly taken to a local hospital.

According to the police, the bride’s father had arranged the weddings of his two daughters on Monday night. While the first wedding concluded without any issues, the second ceremony took a turn for the worse.
The bride’s family alleged that the groom forcibly kissed her on stage, while the groom claimed that the bride had insisted on being kissed after the varmala ceremony.
Senior Hapur police officer Rajkumar Agarwal stated that so far, no written complaint has been received from either family in the case. He mentioned that action will be taken upon receipt of a complaint.
The six people have been charged with disturbing public peace under section 151 of the Indian Penal Code.
