New Delhi: After hearing a plea challenging the Allahabad high court order of conducting a scientific survey on ‘Shivling’ discovered at the Gyanvapi Complex, the Supreme Court on Friday deferred the ‘Scientific survey’, including carbon dating till the next date. 

A bench comprising CJI D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narsimha and J B Pardiwala said that since the implications of the Allahabad High Court order that allowed carbon dating merit closer scrutiny.

The court said, “the implementation of directions concerned in order shall stand deferred till the next hearing” news agency ANI reported. 

Earlier, on May 12, Allahabad High Court ordered a scientific investigation to determine the age of the structure that was claimed to be a Shivling in the Varanasi Gyanvapi mosque complex.

The high court set aside an order from the Varanasi Court that prohibited the scientific investigation.
