In a Major development a day before the winter session of parliament comes to end. Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh rejected the impeachment notice served by the opposition for the removal of vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar. Accusing Dhankhar biased more than 60 members served the notice to the Deputy Chairmen on December 10.
Reasons For Rejection
In his ruling, Deputy Chairman Harivansh described the impeachment notice as “flawed” and drawn up hastily. He emphasized that it was intended to damage the reputation of the Vice President and was part of a broader effort to undermine the integrity of constitutional institutions in India. Harivansh stated that the notice was “personally targeted” and lacked factual basis, labeling it a “misadventure” that trivializes the high office of the Vice President.
The Deputy Chairman took charge of this matter after Chairman Dhankhar recused himself from the proceedings. In his statement, he expressed concern about the implications of such notices on the prestige of Parliament and its members.

Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, who submitted the notice, stated that although they may not have had enough votes to win the motion, it was crucial to send a strong message about defending parliamentary democracy.
Political Reactions
