Kamal Nath has called an all candidates meet at his residence tomorrow at 11 am. This comes after Congress’ huge defeat in Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Elections 2023.

Ruling BJP retained power with a landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh elections with incumbent chief minister Shivraj Chouhan eyeing his fourth term as chief minister. Election to the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly was fought between BJP and the Congress, whose then 15- month old government was toppled from power in 2020 with help from Jyotiraditya Scindia who defected to BJP from the Congress.

Earlier, while speaking to media Kamal Nath said that he accepts the people’s mandate in this “democratic contest” and his party will fulfil the responsibility of the Opposition.

Kamal Nath also met CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and congratulated him for the victory.

The Congress had listed 59 promises in its 106-page manifesto, with assurances for all sections of the society, which included farmers, women and government employees.
The Counting of votes in elections to the 230-member state assembly which were held on November 17, began at 8 am on December 3. Postal ballots were counted between 8 am and 8.30 am, following which the counting of votes through EVMs began in the presence of officials and political parties’ authorised agents.
