After the alliance between BJP and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) broke over the Lok Sabha seats, Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday submitted his resignation as Haryana Chief Minister after meeting Governor Bandaru Dattareya. Following Khattar’s resignation, the entire cabinet resigned. Dushyant Chautala-led JJP which came in alliance with BJP following assembly elections 2019, wanted two seats in the upcoming general elections, but the BJP wanted to contest the polls on all the 10 parliamentary seats.

The JJP expressed it willingness to contest from Hisar and Bhiwani in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The development came at a time when the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are due in April-May this year.
As per reports, Nayab Saini or Sanjay Bhatia may replace him as the new chief minister.

They also stated that there is a possibility that the saffron party may field khattar from Karna in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024.

At present, BJP has 41 MLAs, JJP has 10 and one leader, Congress has 30 MLAs, INLD has one and seven independent MLAs. There are a total of 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly.
