Jammu: Eight people, including four women, were killed in a road accident in Marwah area of Kishtwar of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar confirmed the accident and said that eight people died after their car fell into a deep gorge, around 5:30 pm, in the Marwah area of Kishtwar.

Police said that a passenger taxi (Tata Sumo) on the way from Alyasar towards Tatapani in Marwah belt met with an accident, as reported by news agency UNI.
“I am shocked and saddened to hear about the road accident,” Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief minister of J&K, said expressing condolences to the bereaved families.

Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted and said “Just now spoke to DC Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav after receiving the news of an unfortunate Tata Sumo road accident in Marwah area. 8 persons have died on the spot, rescue operations in progress to recover other persons. All possible assistance being provided, further help as needed would also be made available. My sincere condolences to bereaved families”.
