New Delhi: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday appointed Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and Sunil Jakhar as state presidents of Telangana, Jharkhand and Punjab respectively.

BJP also nominated former Union Minister D Purandeshwari as state president of the Andhra Pradesh party unit.
About leaders
– J Kishan Reddy, a Member of Parliament from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, is a senior BJP leader and Union Minister of Tourism in the Modi 2.0 cabinet.
– Babulal Marandi was the first Chief Minister of Jharkahnd after it became a state in 2000. Currently, he is serving as leader of the opposition in the state Legislative Assembly.
– After spending almost 4 decades in Congress, Sunil Jakhar joined BJP in May 2022. He is an experienced parliamentarian and also served as Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.
– D Purandeshwari, joined Bhartiya Janata Party in 2014 as a mark of protest against congress led union government after it favoured the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. She served as Prabhari of BJP’s state Mahila Morcha.
Crucial move before 2024 general elections
The move came after the Prime Minister chaired the meeting of the Council of Ministers at Pragati Maidan Convention Centre on Monday.
As per sources, the meeting was called to set an important political message from the PM before the election in five states later this year and General Election next year.
The government is also preparing a strategy for the upcoming Monsoon Session Which is scheduled to begin on July 20. The opposition parties may counter the government on the matter of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which is being discussed now.
