Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Bihar will go to the polls on November 6 and 11, in a marathon two-phase exercise to elect members of the 243-seat Assembly. The counting of votes will be held on November 14. Chief Election Commission (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced the poll schedule for the Bihar elections today at 4 pm.
In the first phase, 121 seats will go to the polls on November 6. While the date of issue of the notification is October 10, the last date to file nomination is October 17, and the final date of withdrawal of candidature is October 20.
In the second phase, 122 seats will go to the polls on November 11. The date of issue of the notification is October 13, the last date to file nomination is October 20, and that of withdrawal of candidature is October 23.
Out of the 243 assembly constituencies, 38 are reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) and 2 for scheduled tribes (ST). CEC Gyanesh Kumar announced a total of 17 initiatives at the press conference. A total of 7.42 crore eligible voters are registered in the state, out of which 3.92 crore are male and 3.5 crore are female. CEC Gyanesh Kumar stated that new voter cards will be given to 14 lakh first-time voters who have been added to the list.
The 243-member assembly elections are scheduled to be held before November 22 as the term of the incumbent Bihar Assembly ends on this date. The CEC asserted that the Bihar polls will be conducted transparently and peacefully.
