New Delhi: After Ghulam Nabi Azad now Congress leader Anand Sharma has resigned from the Himachal Pradesh Congress unit. The Congress leader said that he is resigning from as the head of the “steering committee” of state unit of the party.
Not long ago the veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has also resigned from the Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit.
Sonia Gandhi sought the appointment of the leader Ghulam Nabi Azad as the head of the party’s campaign committee for Jammu and Kashmir. However, Azad turned down this offer. Gandhi then appointed Vikar Rasool Wani as the new president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit. Wani is considered to be a close aide of Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Azad is also a prominent member of the Congress’ core committee ‘G23’. The group has been voicing for organizational reforms in the Congress party. The group has also been critical of the party leadership. Post his retirement from the Rajya Sabha, Azad was not sent back to the Upper House of the Parliament.
