Four people were killed including two children in a major fire that erupted in the residential building in Shastri Nagar, Delhi on Thursday.

The police have confirmed the identities of the four deceased individuals as Manoj (30), his wife Suman (28), and their two daughters, aged five and three years old.
“Fire brigade and police are present at the spot to control the situation and the efforts to douse the fire are underway. The reason behind the fire is unknown”, said a senior police official.

Giving details of the incident, Surendra Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara stated that they have received a call regarding the incident at 5:30 am at the Geeta Colony Police Station regarding a massive fire in a residential building. Following the call, local police, fire brigade, ambulance, QRT (Quick Response Team) vehicles were dispatched for the spot.
He said that the total of nine people were rescued from the spot and were rushed to the hospital. “Four people including two children were declared brought dead by the hospital administration,” DCP further said.
