Two terrorists have been gunned down by security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday. The encounter broke out after security forces started an anti-terrorist operation in the area. According to official sources, the terrorists were foreigners. They said an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in the Halkan Gali area of Kachwan, Anantnag.
The security personnel were tracking the movement of foreign terrorists in the area when an encounter broke out and two terrorists were killed, said the reports. The officials have hinted at the possibility of presence of more terrorists in the area.
Chinar Corps of the Indian Army shared the information through X post and wrote, “Based on specific input, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar in gen area Halkan Gali, #Anantnag. On 02 Nov 2024, suspicious movement near Halkan Gali was observed and challenged by vigilant troops, as a result, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on own column. Own troops effectively retaliated, resulting in elimination of two terrorists.”
The officials said that the operation is in progress.

Chinar Corps had earlier informed that a search operation was launched on Saturday after suspicious movement was spotted in general area Panar of Bandipora, by alert troops on 1 Nov 2024 late evening.
