Filmmaker Boney Kapoor and developer Bhutani Group have joined hands together to build a film city near Noida International Airport. They also received possession of the land. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is likely to lay the stone for the project, but the date is yet to be decided, according to officials aware of the development.
The Film City is meant to take about 1,000 acres in Sector 21, about 6 kilometers from the airport along the Yamuna Expressway. The first phase will cover about 230 acres and will cost approximately Rs 1,510 crore.
“The project will take about eight years to be fully developed, while the first phase will be done in three years,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of YEIDA.
The Film City is supposed to have luxurious villas for actors, state-of-the-art studios, production houses, a film academy, and entertainment zones and will be giving full infrastructure support to domestic and international filmmakers.
The development project was won by Bayview Projects LLP and Bhutani Group in January 2024, having agreed to share an 18 percent revenue with the Uttar Pradesh government. The company outbid T-Series and others, including consortiums led by actor Akshay Kumar and producer KC Bokadia.
In June, YEIDA signed a concession agreement Bayview Projects. After the eight-year moratorium period, the consortium will commence revenue sharing with the government, the officials said.
The master plan shows that Film City will feature 15 luxurious three-bedroom villas for actors, equipped with gymnasiums, private swimming pools, and ample space for personal staff.
The consortium will also build studios, outdoor sets, and a university for technician training in the first phase.
