On Saturday, June 1, 2024, a bomb threat against IndiGo flight 6E-5314 from Chennai to Mumbai prompted a full emergency at Mumbai airport.
The IndiGo team discovered a note in the toilet mentioning a bomb. The flight landed safely, and passengers were escorted to an isolated area. Additional security checks are currently in progress.
This is the second bomb threat IndiGo has received in less than a week. On May 28, a threat was made against an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi. All passengers on flight 6E2211 were evacuated through the security door, according to a statement from the airline. IndiGo stated that all necessary protocols were followed, and the plane was moved to a remote bay as directed by airport security officials.
There were at least 174 adults and two children on board.
The Delhi Fire Service said in a statement that the IGI received a call about the bomb threat at 5:40 am.
Additionally, a message on tissue paper in the plane’s lavatory read “BOMB DROP @30 MINUTES,” which the pilot also saw. At the time, the flight had just completed take-off and was turned back to the airport, the statement added.
On Friday, May 31, a bomb threat to Vistara flight t UK611 from Delhi caused a brief scare at Srinagar International Airport. The alarm was raised when Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar received a threat call.
