Blinkit and Swiggy uniforms are often associated as synonymous with timely delivery for Ghaziabad residents. But a recent incident that took place on Friday left both the residents and the police in a state of shock. On Friday, two delinquents dressed in Blinkit and Swiggy delivery agent attire walked into Mansi Jewellers in Ghaziabad. The unsuspecting employees in the shop thought that the duo had arrived to deliver a parcel, but the lookalikes had other motives.
The agents soon took out their guns, and the employees realised they were robbers in disguise. The whole incident was caught on CCTV. The incident from Brij Vihar Colony has caught quite some steam over the internet and has become the talk of the town. Since both the robbers were wearing helmets, it was hard to identify them from the CCTV footage that has been doing the rounds over the internet.
Once the employees of the shop were threatened, the robbers, pretending to be delivery agents of Blinkit and Swiggy looted 20 kg of silver, 125 grams of gold, and Rs 20,000 in cash before setting off on their bikes into oblivion. The robbers, who are yet to be apprehended, also assaulted one of the shopkeepers before carrying out the robbery.
The shop is owned by Krishna Kumar Verma. A relative of the proprietor said that the owner had briefly stepped out to use a nearby washroom when the robbers, who had been surveying the area for a while, took their chance and plundered the shop. The police reached the location shortly and started the investigation.
The police are analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the robbers.
