New Delhi: Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi on Tuesday was seen running away from media questions over wrestlers protest who were in Haridwar the same day to throw away their medals in the river Ganga.
As soon as she was asked about the wrestlers’ resolution to immerse their medals that they later halted, she gave a run. When the media persistently followed her, she replied that the legal process is going on.
The video of the union minister’s escape went viral on the social media and the Congress party took a dig at it calling her response a ‘sharp reaction’.
Hours before the media confrontation, Lekhi had inaugurated a toilet and water cooler in Delhi’s Connaught Place.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also took a dig at Lekhi’s response and called her “shameless minister.”

In the wrestlers protest so far
The wrestlers protest have recieved a global support on Tuesday with the intervention of the United World Wrestling (UWW) who threatened to suspend the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
The UWW condemned the detention of the wrestlers on May 28 when the latter were trying to reach new Parliament in the national capital.
Naresh Tikait convinces wrestlers to not throw medals, seeks 5 days
Moments before immersing medals in Har ki Pauri, wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat and Sakshee Malikkh were seen being emotional as they sob and hug their trophies.
Following which, farmer leader and BKU member Naresh Tikait took away medals from the grapplers asking them to give them a period of 5-days. After which, the grapplers returned.
