Haryana: In a significant move, the Haryana BJP has written to the Election Commission of India, requesting a change or shift in the assembly election date. They have cited holidays before and after October 1 as a major reason for seeking the postponement. Congress Party has taken a major dig at the BJP’s bid. Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda has called the bid a defeatist move by BJP.
The Election Commission announced last Friday, August 16 that Haryana will vote in a single phase on October 1. The result for the 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly Elections is scheduled to be announced on October 4, 2024. In his written letter to EC, Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli has highlighted that October 1 may see fewer voters at polling booths if they plan vacations before and after the scheduled election date. He has asked the poll body to fix a new date for Haryana Assembly Elections.
