BJP Secures Majority In Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Elections

BJP candidates have emerged victorious in several constituencies, including Changlang North, Namsang, Palin, Chayang-Tajo, Khonsa West, Lumla, Dambuk, Dumporijo, Seppa East, Tezu-Sunpura, Raga, and Liromoba

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regained control of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, marking their third consecutive term in power, having secured a majority by winning 36 seats in the 60-member assembly, according to Election Commission officials.

Vote counting is currently in progress for 50 seats in the Arunachal Pradesh, which held elections on April 19. The remaining 10 seats were won by the BJP uncontested. Out of the 50 contested seats, the BJP has secured victory in 23 and is leading in 12 others.

Tesam Pongte of the BJP emerged victorious from Changlang North, defeating his nearest rival Dihom Kitnya of the NPP by a margin of 2,002 votes. Meanwhile, Wangki Lowang, the BJP candidate, secured victory from the Namsang seat, narrowly defeating his closest competitor Ngonglin Boi of the NCP by just 56 votes.

Balo Raja of the BJP emerged victorious from the Palin constituency, defeating his nearest rival Mayu Taring of the NPP by a substantial margin of 5,040 votes. In the Chayang-Tajo seat, Hayeng Mangfi of the BJP retained his position by defeating his closest competitor Kompu Dolo of the Congress with a significant margin of 6,685 votes.

Chakat Aboh of the BJP secured victory from Khonsa West, retaining her seat by defeating her closest rival Yang Sen Matey of the NCP with a margin of 804 votes. In the Lumla constituency, BJP’s Tsering Lhamu also retained her seat by winning against Jampa Thirnly Kunkhap of the Congress with a margin of 1,531 votes.

Puinnyo Apum of the BJP emerged victorious from the Dambuk constituency, defeating his nearest rival Raju Tayeng of the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) by a narrow margin of 222 votes. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Rode Bui secured the Dumporijo seat by defeating Tabe Doni of the NPP with a margin of 1,591 votes. Bui successfully retained the seat.

Ealing Tallang of the BJP secured victory from the Seppa East seat, defeating Tame Gyadi of the Congress by a significant margin of 5,600 votes. Mahesh Chai of the BJP emerged victorious from the Tezu-Sunpura seat, defeating NPP candidate Karikho Kri by a margin of 2,805 votes. Rotom Tebin, also from the BJP, won from the Raga constituency, defeating Ajay Murtem of the NPP by 2,934 votes. Meanwhile, NPP candidate Pesi Jilen won from Liromoba, defeating BJP’s Nyamar Karbak by a margin of 1,698 votes.
