In a shocking incident, Reena Rajput, sister of Farrukhabad BJP MP Mukesh Rajput, was allegedly assaulted by her in-laws in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah. The attack came after she protested against being secretly filmed while bathing. A video showing her in-laws harassing her has gone viral on social media, in which her father-in-law can reportedly be seen beating her publicly with sticks. The incident occurred in Rani Avantibai Nagar. Later, she filed a case against her in-laws. In her written complaint to the police, she alleged long-term domestic violence and said her in-laws have been trying to drive her out of the household.
Reena has claimed that her father-in-law and brother-in-law secretly filmed her while she was bathing. When she objected, she was beaten with the butt of a rifle by her father-in-law. The video has triggered strong reactions on social media. The complainant, identified as Reena Rajput, has been married in Rani Avantibai Nagar of Etah for 17 years.
“I have two daughters, so my in-laws beat me up. They have been torturing me for a long time and for some reason they want to get rid of me,” complainant Reena Rajput, sister of BJP MP Mukesh Rajput, alleged.
According to her complaint, the in-laws regularly harassed her, and still, she was staying in their house. This made them more nervous, and they filmed a video of her when she was having a bath. “As soon as I objected, they came out and beat me up in front of everyone. They beat me a lot with sticks and lathis (canes) and also beat my daughter,” Reena said.
The complaint also says that the physical assault happened publicly. However, no one offered any help to her. Following the circulation of the video online, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
