BJP MP Khagen Murmu reportedly suffered injuries to head after stones were thrown at party delegation in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri on Monday. Party’s Information & Technology Department in-charge Amit Malviya confirmed the incident, sharing details in an X post. The MP was attacked while on his way to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri’s Dooars region to help with relief and rescue efforts after devastating rains, floods, and landslides.
Malviya has held ‘TMC goons’ responsible for the stone-pelting attack and lashed out at TMC’s administration in the region. Pointing out the “Jungle Raj” in Bengal, Malviya stated that BJP leaders are simply attacked for carrying relief work in the state.
Sharing the details on X, he wrote, “TMC’s Jungle Raj in Bengal! BJP MP Khagen Murmu, a respected tribal leader and two-time MP from North Malda, was attacked by TMC goons while on his way to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri’s Dooars region to help with relief and rescue efforts after devastating rains, floods, and landslides. While Mamata Banerjee dances at her Kolkata Carnival, the TMC and state administration are missing in action. Those actually helping the people, BJP leaders and karyakartas, are being attacked for doing relief work. This is TMC’s Bengal, where cruelty rules and compassion is punished.”

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar condemns the incident
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar also reacted on the incident, stating that several leaders were attacked when they had gone to meet people affected by the recent disaster. He has alleged conspiracy and condemned the state government for the attack.
Majumdar told ANI, “The way our MP, MLA and state leaders were attacked shows that there is no such thing as democracy in West Bengal. Today, a BJP team led by our state president went there for relief work, to meet the people…Mamata Banerjee has created such a situation by bringing Rohingyas from Bangladesh and making them settle here. I think it was planned and the CM is also involved in this, as such a big attack cannot happen without the CM’s knowledge.”
