Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday in state Assembly alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was planning to create panic among people before the 2024 general elections.
The West Bengal CM said that the saffron party is developing a division among societies to put the state in bad light before the elections.
Speaking in the state Assembly, Mamata said she has input on BJP’s plan that she claimed was discussed in a recent meeting held in New Delhi with senior party leaders.
She also alleged that BJP has the motive to fund “any party that can divide Trinamool Congress (TMC) votes.
“I have information about the BJP meeting held in New Delhi. I will not disclose the names of those present in it. They are planning to divide people on the pretext of religion and caste. They want to highlight alleged crimes against women, SCs, STs, and Rajbangshis in the state so that they can show the state in bad light,” she said.
The Assembly was discussing a resolution brought by the opposition BJP on the violence that took place during panchayat polls and the law-and-order situation in West Bengal.
Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who is also the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, brought the motion and Speaker Biman Banerjee accepted it.
