By-Polls Results 2024: Counting for the 2024 Jharkhand and Maharashtra Assembly Elections commenced at 8 am on Saturday, alongside the counting of votes of by-polls from 15 states. In Maharashtra, Wednesday’s Legislative Assembly polling saw a remarkable turnout of over 66%, exceeding the 61% recorded in the 2019 elections. The first phase of polling in Jharkhand took place on November 13, covering 43 out of the total 81 assembly seats. This marked the beginning of the two-phase election process in the state, with the second phase held on November 20.
The by-polls were also held across 15 states, covering 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats, with key contests taking place in Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad, Kerala. Notably, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her electoral debut in Wayanad, Kerala. The counting of votes has commenced for all seats, with the final tally to come by tonight.
By-Polls Results 2024: Early Trends
Maharashtra: The 288-seat Maharashtra assembly election vote count is ongoing, with the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance taking the lead. As per the latest trends, Mahayuti is ahead in 146 seats, while the MVA coalition trails behind with 131 seats.
Jharkhand: As per early trends, the JMM-led alliance has taken the lead in 51 seats, while the NDA is trailing behind with 28 seats, as the vote counting for Jharkhand’s 81 Assembly constituencies continues.
Wayanad Lok Sabha: Priyanka Gandhi, Congress general secretary, has taken a significant lead of over 1 lakh votes in the Wayanad election, outpacing her competitors Sathyan Mokeri from the CPI(M) and Navya Haridas from the BJP.
Nanded Lok Sabha: Congress candidate Chavan Ravindra Vasantrao is leading from this Lok Sabha constituency.
Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly By-polls: BJP is leading on 6 seats, Samajwadi Party (SP) on 2 seats, and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on 1 seat.
West Bengal Assembly By-polls: All India Trinamul Congress (TMC) is leading on all 6 assembly seats.
Rajasthan Assembly By-polls: BJP is leading on 4, Congress on 1 and Bharat Adivasi Party on 2 seats.
Additionally, BJP is leading on 3 out 5 assembly seats in Assam, as per early trends. In Bihar, BJP is leading on 1, BSP is leading on 1, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) on 1, and JDU on 1 assembly seat. Congress leads in Karnataka and Gujarat, whereas BJP leads in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, BJP leads in Kedarnath assembly by-polls. ‘AAP’ (Aam Aadmi Party) and Congress leads on 2 seats each in Punjab assembly by-polls. Meanwhile, Congress and BJP leading on 1-1 seat in Madhya Pradesh assembly bypolls.
