In a major success, Indian security agencies have arrested two of the country’s most wanted gangsters, who were operating abroad. Both will be deported to India soon. Security agency officials, including Haryana Police personnel, arrested Venkatesh Garg in Georgia and Bhanu Rana in the United States.
The arrested gangster Bhanu Rana is linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, one of the most notorious criminal groups operating from outside India. While Venkatesh Garg, is involved in the BSP leader’s Murder. Their arrests have led officials to understand the modus operandi of the two gangsters.
Bishnoi gang’s Bhanu Rana arrested
Originally from Karnal, Rana has been living in the US for quite some time. He has been active in the criminal world for years, with several cases registered against him. His criminal network spans Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi. During the investigation of a grenade attack in Punjab, Rana’s name had surfaced, indicating Bishnoi gang’s involvement in the incident. In June, the Special Task Force (STF) of Karnal arrested two men found in possession of hand grenades, pistols, and ammunition, who were reportedly acting on Rana’s instructions.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s threat looms large over Salman Khan
Lawrence Bishnoi, who is reportedly directing operations from inside an Indian prison, is accused of orchestrating a range of violent crimes and extortion schemes in the country. The gang has issued death threats to Bollywood actor Salman Khan several times through phone calls at various police stations of Maharashtra. His father, Salim Khan, was also threatened by a gang member while on a walk in 2024. It is worth noting that there was a firing at Khan’s residence in 2024, which was linked to the Bishnoi gang again. Khan was reportedly asked to pay Rs 5 crore for as a condition for apologising and compromising with Lawrence.
Who is the other gangster arrested?
Garg, a resident of Haryana’s Narayangarh, had been living in Georgia. He has over 10 criminal cases registered against him in India. He is reported to be recruiting youth from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other north Indian states. Garg is also running an extortion syndicate alongside Kapil Sangwan, a gangster currently residing overseas. He had fled to Georgia after being involved in BSP leader’s murder in Gurugram.
