BIMSTEC Summit 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 6th BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday. He shared pictures from the event on X. PM Modi stated that all the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to boost cooperation diverse across sectors. He hoped that their efforts would bring a positive difference in people’s lives. PM Modi also held a meeting with Senior General of Myanmar, Aung Hlaing. Both of them discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.

PM Modi Meets Myanmar General
PM also expressed his condolences on the loss of lives due to the recent earthquake in Myanmar on March 28. He emphasised that India is doing whatever is possible to assist the people of Myanmar in this critical time.
“Met Senior General Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. Once again expressed condolences on the loss of lives and damage of property in the wake of the recent earthquake. India is doing whatever is possible to assist our sisters and brothers of Myanmar in this critical time. We also discussed bilateral relations between India and Myanmar, particularly in sectors like connectivity, capacity building, infrastructure development and more.”

BIMSTEC Secretary General On PM Modi
Earlier, ahead of PM Modi’s address at BIMSTEC, BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey said that PM Modi’s declarations will reinforce India’s role in strengthening regional cooperation through BIMSTEC. He told ANI, “PM will address BIMSTEC, we are looking forward to the Prime Minister’s address, and I’m sure there will be announcements, declarations by the Prime Minister to reinforce India’s role in strengthening regional cooperation through BIMSTEC,” wrote PM Modi on X.
He also praised Thailand for hosting the summit despite the recent earthquake. He expressed optimism about the outcomes, which will include the adoption of the Bangkok Vision 2030.
PM Modi Meets Thai PM
PM Modi on Thursday met his his Thailand counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra. Both the leaders exchanged talks on defence, security partnership and strategic engagement between the two countries. They outlined the need to enhance connectivity, health, science and technology, start-up, innovation, digital, education, culture and tourism collaborations.
“Had a very fruitful meeting with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in Bangkok a short while ago. Expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Thailand for the warm welcome and also expressed solidarity with the people of Thailand in the aftermath of the earthquake a few days ago. India’s ‘Act East’ and Thailand’s ‘Act West Policies’ complement each other extremely well and open several possibilities for bilateral cooperation,” said PM Modi.
