Disturbing footage of an attempted chain-snatching on National Highway-9 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh was shared on social media. A group of bikers attempted to snatch a woman’s chain as she rode her scooty along the highway. The woman sustained injuries when she was pulled off the scooty in the incident.
Incident Occurred Under Wave City Police Jurisdiction
The incident happened in the jurisdiction of the Wave City police station. The video shows the woman falling from her scooty. A little while later, a car stopped and helped the woman. The woman was wearing a helmet, which saved her life at that moment.
Victim’s Sister Shares Additional Details
The sibling of the victim also captured a video in which she stated that the victim was walking back from an event when the occurrence happened. The chain had gotten stuck in the dupatta of the woman. The video showed the woman had sustained injuries to her face, legs, and hands as she requested authorities to take strict action.
Similar Fatal Incident in 2023 on Same Highway
A similar incident occurred about two years prior to this incident on NH-9 in Ghaziabad. In October of 2023, a 19-year-old woman fell off a moving auto after resisting the snatching of her purse by two men who were on a bike and subsequently died on the highway. The woman died from her injuries received while undergoing treatment. The name of the deceased was Kirti Singh, who was from Hapur, UP and was studying to obtain her B.Tech.
