Bihar Shocker: Class 5 Girl Sets Herself Ablaze, Critical Condition

A Class 5 girl set herself ablaze inside the toilet of a government school, Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya Amaltola, in the Chitkohra area of Patna, Bihar.

A minor, who is a student of class 5, allegedly set herself ablaze inside her school toilet in Chitkhora in Patna on Wednesday, police said, adding the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition is critical.

Police said the incident took place in Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya Amaltola. When school staff saw smoke billowing out of the washroom, they rushed inside and rescued her.

As family members of the injured came to know about the incident, they staged a protest and vandalized the staff room and scuffled with police when cops tried to pacify them. They also alleged negligence against the school.

“The girl has been admitted to PMCH for treatment. We are recording statements of school staff and the family to ascertain the circumstances. “The victim is not in a position to give her statement at present,” said Patna Central SP Diksha, as quoted by NDTV.

Police said now they are investigating how the minor was able to access the inflammable substance in the school. They are also scanning CCTV footage to investigate the case properly. Police said that they are investigating the case from all angles and further investigation is underway.
