An eight-year-old girl was allegedly killed, buried, and stuffed into a gunny bag by her step-mother for spilling water in the home, said police, adding that her skeletal remains were recovered from the gunny bag and the stepmother was arrested on Saturday.
According to police, the girl who was identified as Anchal Kumari went missing on Saturday, and later her missing person report was registered at the police station. When police started the investigation, they arrested her stepmother following the investigation. It was revealed that the suspect woman used to beat Anchal, and when she spilled water in the home, she got furious and killed her by strangulating her.
Later, she buried her body and stuffed it into a gunny bag. The woman then hid the skeletal remains inside the bed, which was recovered by police. Investigators said Anchal’s father, who works as a daily wager, resides in Ghaziabad.
His first wife died in Cover around four years back, and later he married Seema Devi in November 2024. Police registered a murder case against the suspect woman, and further investigation is underway.
