The District Magistrate of Patna, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh, has announced all schools till class 8 to remain closed till January 20. According to the directive, schools, including private institutions, Anganwadi centers, government schools, and pre-schools, will remain shut until January 20. This closure is applicable to all schools up to the 8th grade. Teachers and parents have been recommended to get in touch with school authorities for the latest updates.

On Tuesday afternoon, an order was issued by District Magistrate Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh to keep schools closed until January 20. Meanwhile, orders have been issued in Gaya to keep schools closed until January 19. Taking note of the intense cold in Gopalganj, the district magistrate has ordered the complete closure of schools up to class eight until January 18. On the other hand, parents suggest that it would be better if schools remain closed for the next four to five days. Sending children to school in such cold weather poses a problem, and there is a risk of children’s health deteriorating in the cold.

It should be noted that the District Magistrate of Patna issued an order on January 12 to close schools. The order specified keeping schools closed until January 16. Similarly, several other districts also issued similar orders. However, despite being aware of the cold conditions and news of illness and deaths, many district magistrates remained unconcerned. In addition to Patna, orders to close schools were issued in Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, West Champaran, Saran, Siwan, Vaishali, Munger, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Nalanda, and Madhubani districts. In Patna, Darbhanga, Siwan, Nalanda, and Munger, schools up to the eighth grade were ordered to remain closed for classes from January 13 to January 16.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
