Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekar has given controversial remarks on Thursday stating that Prophet Muhammad who founded Islam was ‘Maryada Purushottam’.
Maryada Purushottam is Sanskrit phrase which means the perfect man.
The statement came while Bihar Education Minister was addressing a gathering here at an event hosted on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.
Speaking at the event, Chandrashekar made a statement where he said, “When satanism increased in the world, faith ended, dishonest people and devils were all around, then in the region of Central Asia, God created a brilliant man of great manliness, Maryada Purushottam, Prophet Muhammad, to bring faith.” He continued, “Islam came for the believers, Islam came against dishonesty, Islam came against evil.”
It’s worth noting that in Hindu mythology, Lord Ram is addressed as ‘Maryada Purushottam’. Following Chandrashekar’s comparison of Prophet Muhammad to ‘Maryada Purushottam’, the BJP responded by accusing the RJD of attempting to gain votes by spreading religious and caste-based hysteria.

BJP spokesperson Arvind Kumar Singh stated, “Education Minister Chandrashekhar has become a victim of mental illness. Sometimes, he comments on Ramayana and then he speaks about the Prophet Muhammad. These people do vote politics by fighting in the name of religion and caste and this cannot be condemned enough.”
