Police said that when the prime minister was in Bihar for a rally, his top official received a threat message on his mobile phone. As the message was a threat to PM, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) and other investigative agencies alerted the Bhagalpur police chief to investigate the case.

After extensive investigation, police zeroed in on a Bhagalpur-based man with the help of electronic surveillance. “The suspect used a virtual private network (VPN) around 71 times before committing the crime,” said DSP Chandra Bhusan.

The DSP said, “The suspect was tracked with the EMI number of the mobile phone. During the investigation, it was revealed that Singh had a property dispute with his uncle for some time. To frame his uncle in a false case, he used his mobile phone and sent a threat message to the PM.”

The mobile phone used in the crime was seized, and police also found WhatsApp messages containing threatening content. A case was registered, and further investigation is underway.
