JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time on Thursday (November 20, 2025) at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan. With this, he also continues as one of the 10 longest-serving Chief Ministers in India, having completed 19 years in power.
The oath ceremony was conducted by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. The event witnessed the presence of top national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, and Chief Ministers from several NDA-ruled states.
26 Ministers Take Oath
A total of 26 ministers joined the new cabinet. The party-wise breakup is:
- BJP – 14 ministers
- JD(U) – 8 ministers
- LJP (RV) – 2 ministers
- HAM (S) – 1 minister
- RLM – 1 minister
The NDA has also included nine new faces, among them LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh, who defeated RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav in the Mahua constituency.
Notably, there are three women ministers in the cabinet:
- Shreyashi Singh (BJP)
- Rama Nishad (BJP)
- Leshi Singh (JD(U))
The Lone Muslim Minister: Mohd. Zama Khan
Among the 26 ministers, only one Muslim leader has been inducted Mohd. Zama Khan, who now serves as the Minister of Minority Affairs.

Mohd. Zama Khan is a prominent leader from the Kaimur district of Bihar and represents the Chainpur Assembly constituency.

In the November 2025 elections, he successfully retained his seat as a JD(U) candidate, strengthening his political standing.
NDA Returns with Strong Majority
In the recent Bihar Assembly polls, the NDA returned to power with a landslide, securing 202 out of 243 seats.

- JD(U) – 85 seats
- LJP (RV) – 19 seats
- HAM – 5 seats
- RLM – 4 seats
