Bihar: A shocking incident occurred on Monday in Jamuahari village, under Kaler Block in Arwal, Bihar. A 76-year-old retired teacher brutally murdered his wife with a sharp weapon, dismembering her into 12 pieces. Despite the gruesome killing of his wife, Sumanti Sinha, the husband, Birbal Prasad, showed no remorse.

He intended to cut his wife into 57 pieces, but he managed only 12 before his grandson interrupted. The incident took place on July 22, the 57th anniversary of their marriage. He had planned the brutal murder of his wife on their anniversary in advance.

Even in his later years, he doubted his wife’s character, which led him to commit the heinous murder. Based on the statement of his elder son, Rajkumar, a murder case was filed against the father. The accused made several revelations during the investigation.

On Tuesday, during questioning in front of SP Rajendra Kumar Bhil, the elderly accused revealed that 57 years ago, his uncle Deepa Saw had arranged his marriage to Sumanti, the daughter of Bhavnath Sah from Hajipur, Kinjhar Police Station area. Bhavnath was disabled, so he didn’t want to marry his daughter, but his uncle forced the marriage.

“She spent more time serving my uncle than with me”

The accused explained that at the time, he was working in the Electric Department in Denughat, Hazaribagh. Later, he got a job as a teacher. During his job, he lived in Arwal city with his children for their education, while his wife stayed in the village to take care of his uncle. After retirement, he moved back to the village. His wife continued to serve his uncle more than him, which made him suspicious and led to disputes.

Even after his uncle passed away in 2010, he couldn’t overcome his suspicions. The doubt festered and ultimately drove him to murder his wife in a gruesome manner. After the incident, the police sealed the accused’s house, and a forensic team collected several pieces of evidence from the house.
