New Delhi: Bihar MP Chirag Pawan on Thursday condemned the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Kumar Singh who reportedly died after taking a blow of police baton during protest in Patna.
” I condole the death of BJP worker Vijay Singh, on behalf of my party… I also want to ask Nitish Kumar and Bihar government, who is responsible for his death that is actually a murder?,” asked the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader.
Paswan pointed out that Nitish Kumar is also state’s Home Minister and it is his accountabilty to answer as to why a baton is held everytime a voice raises against him.
“Be it teacher, students, farmers or aspirants, every voice is tried to be oppressed with the lathi,” said Paswan. Chirag Paswan asked what is it if not the undeclared situation of emergency in Bihar.
“Somebody was beaten to death by a lathi… those who raise their voice against the state government is silenced by lathi… CM must answer, he is accountable for this death,” he added.
Paswan’s condolences for a BJP leader comes at a time when there are speculations that Lok Janshakti Party may merge with the saffron party against Nitish Kumar in upcoming elections.
Jehanabad leader died in lathi-charge
Meanwhile, BJP leader from Jehanabad Vijay Singh died during lathi-charge that took place in an anti-government protest held in Patna on July 13. Earlier in the day, the leaders of the saffron party hit the road to demand dismissal of charge-sheeted Tejashwi Yadav from the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
Seeing the growing crowd, the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protestors.
BJP lashes out at Bihar govt
BJP national president JP Nadda slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government over the death of party leader in Patna.
He took to the Twitter and wrote, “The lathicharge on BJP workers in Patna is the result of the failure and indignation of the state government. The Grand Alliance government is attacking democracy to save the citadel of corruption. To save the person who has been chargesheeted, the Chief Minister of Bihar has even forgotten his morality.”
