Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will be the new Home Minister of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday finalised the portfolio distribution for all 26 ministers in the new NDA government, and the list has reportedly been sent to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. Nitish Kumar’s other deputy, Vijay Sinha, has been given the Mines and Geology Department, while the crucial Finance Ministry has been assigned to senior JD(U) leader Bijendra Prasad Yadav.
Since the BJP has the largest number of ministers in the new cabinet, it has received several important departments, including Home, Health, Road Construction, and Agriculture.
The final list of portfolios was released a day after Nitish Kumar took oath as Chief Minister for a record tenth time. Ministers from the BJP, JD(U), RLJP, and HAM were also sworn in. In the new government, the BJP has 14 ministers, JD(U) has 9, LJP(Ram Vilas) has 2, and both HAM and RLM have 1 each.
