Bihar: In Bihar’s Saran, a 15-year-old boy succumbed to his condition when the fake doctor, allegedly using YouTube videos as tutorials, attempted to perform a gall bladder stone removal surgery. When the condition of the boy deteriorated, the ‘doctor’ arranged an ambulance and sent the boy to a hospital in Patna. He passed away mid-way and the ‘doctor’ along with others abandoned his body at the hospital and fled, said his family.
Krishna Kumar’s family claimed they admitted him to Ganpati Hospital, Saran after he started experiencing severe vomiting. “We admitted him, and the vomiting stopped soon after,” said Chandan Shaw. “However, Dr. Ajit Kumar Puri insisted on surgery and performed the operation by following YouTube videos. My son later died.”
Bihar Teen’s Condition Improved For A While
The grandfather of the teenager said the boy was getting better after he had stopped vomiting. “But the doctor sent the father away and started operating on the boy without informing the family members. The boy screamed in pain, and when we asked the doctor, he gave an abusive reply and said we were not doctors. Then the boy’s breathing stopped. He was revived by administering CPR, after which he was transferred to Patna, but he died midway. They abandoned his body on the hospital stairs and fled,” said Krishna Kumar’s grandfather Prahlad Prasad Shaw.
Family Was Questioned On Teen’s Hospital Admission
Asked why the family took the boy to Ajit Kumar Puri if they weren’t sure of his qualifications, the family explained, “We only wanted the vomiting to stop. He performed the operation without our permission.”.
The police have lodged an FIR and sent the body for post-mortem. Police are trying to trace the impostor doctor along with other staff of Ganpati Seva Sadan. Meanwhile, the patients have been left unattended at the nursing home as the staff has fled.
