The Yamuna Authority has announced plans for a significant infrastructural development, aiming to connect the Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway through a newly planned interchange near Jaganpur-Afzalpur. This project aims to enhance connectivity and streamline travel between the two expressways, facilitating smoother transportation for commuters traveling from Uttar Pradesh to Haryana.

Infrastructure Details:

The initiative includes the construction of ramps on 60-meter and 30-meter-wide service roads, aligning with an investment of around Rs 59 crore. Additionally, approximately Rs 122 crore is allocated for connecting both expressways, with plans for extensive connectivity to sectors within Yamuna City.

Yamuna Expressway – Interchange and Development Progress:

Originally proposed in 2018, the construction was delayed due to farmer-related disputes. Now, with an updated budget of Rs 122.89 crore, NHAI and Yamuna Authority are collaborating to initiate the project’s long-awaited commencement. The newly revised plan incorporates sectors of the Yamuna Authority, ensuring comprehensive connectivity.

Stalled Progress and Farmer Agreements:

The development faced a setback due to disagreements over additional compensation for farmers. However, recent negotiations led to an agreement between farmers and the authority. Consequently, the authority will provide 7% of population plots near the expressway in exchange for resuming construction work on the interchange.

The initiative aims to reduce detours and traffic congestion in Greater Noida while providing seamless connectivity between the two expressways.

Fulfilling Development Goals:

Aligned with the vision of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the interchange aims to enhance connectivity to Jewar International Airport and other key destinations. The project emphasizes better transportation infrastructure, benefitting commuters traveling between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
