Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is unlikely to field Maneka and Varun Gandhi from the Sultanpur and Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituencies for 2024 elections, a newspaper report has claimed. The mother-son duo have lost support among the local level BJP workers, Amar Ujala reported citing an internal survey within the party.
The BJP is already doing an internal survey to find out who would be the party candidates from the two seats in Uttar Pradesh. Lok Sabha elections in the country are due in 2024.
According to party sources, the survey report has revealed that BJP workers of Sultanpur are angry with local MP Maneka Gandhi. The public has also expressed displeasure over Maneka Gandhi’s low presence in the parliamentary constituency. Maneka is also absent from organizational programs most of the time.
The survey report is against Pilibhit BJP MP Varun Gandhi. The local organization of BJP is also completely against the MP. After Varun’s statements, the party leadership has also decided to change the candidate in Pilibhit this time. The party is preparing to field a Minister of State from the Kurmi community in the state government.
Varun has kept distance for two years
BJP MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi has kept distance from BJP for the last three years. Varun Gandhi neither came to campaign in support of the party candidates in the assembly elections.
Nor do they participate in any organizational program. Varun is also often vocal against the decisions of the Central Government and the system of the state. In such a situation, it is considered certain that the tickets of Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi may be cut in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP has started searching for new faces in Sultanpur and Pilibhit.
