Big decision by Election Commission: UP SIR last date extended to December 26, no extension for Bengal- Check list here

The Election Commission has assured that all eligible voters will be included, and Form 6 submissions for new voters will continue until the final list is published on February 14, 2026.

The SIR (Special Intensive Revision) of the voter list in Uttar Pradesh has been extended by two weeks. Earlier, it was mentioned that the last date to fill up the forms is December 11. The Election Commission of India had issued an order extending the date of the SIR extension. Now, the people are modifying or deleting their names in the voter list, which has been extended to December 26. The relaxation has been given in many other states also. The Election Commission of India conducted a significant review of the SIR process on Thursday. According to the reports, the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh had requested a two-week extension. Along with extending the deadline for submitting counting forms, the publication date for the draft voter list has also been pushed back.

The draft voter list in Uttar Pradesh was originally scheduled to be published on December 16th. The Election Commission has assured that all eligible voters will be included in the electoral rolls. The process of submitting Form 6 to add new voters will continue even after the final voter list is published in February 2026.

Counting of the forms

According to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa, over 91% of counting of the forms have been distributed in the state. Around 80% of the voters have already filled out and submitted the forms. The mapping of 76% of voters is already done till now, with the 2003 voter list having been completed.

How many duplicate voters were identified?

According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, the verification process has so far revealed:

  • 1.27 crore voters who have shifted
  • 46 lakh deceased voters
  • 23.69 lakh duplicate entries
  • 84.74 lakh voters who could not be traced

Additionally, 9.57 lakh voters have not returned their forms despite receiving them. These numbers are expected to become clearer once the draft voter list is published. Voters turning 18 on January 1, 2026, will also be eligible to submit Form 6.

Here’s how to check if your BLO is uploaded on the Enumeration form

  • Open the browser and go to the official website voters.eci.gov.in
  • Click on ‘Fill Enumeration Form’ on the homepage
  • Enter your Mobile Number, optional ID, and captcha code
  • Complete the registration.
  • After this, log in again on the homepage and enter your EPIC Number
  • Press search to see whether your form is uploaded or not.

The final voter list will be released on February 14 next year.
