In a major rejig by the Congress Party ahead of the Lok Sabha election, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been relieved of her duties in-charge of AICC Uttar Pradesh.
Sachin Pilot will now lead the party in Chhattisgarh with the former appointed as the General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Congress.
In place of Priyanka Gandhi, Avinash Pande has been put in charge of Uttar Pradesh while Mukul Wasnik will be in charge of Gujarat.
Priyanka Gandhi being relieved from her responsibilities in UP comes after speculations suggesting that the opposition bloc INDIA will be choosing a strong candidate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi for the general election.
GA Mir has been appointed as the General Secretary of Jharkhand and also provided with an additional charge of West Bengal.
Congress have recently faced heavy defeats in Assembly elections of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, with the party losing power in the first two states as well.
Other Appointments
Apart from this, Ramesh Chenithala has got the responsibility of Maharashtra and Mohan Prakash will be in charge of Bihar
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has got the responsibility of Rajasthan while Devender Yadav was handed the responsibility of Punjab.
Dr. Chellakumar has been made in-charge of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. Bharat Singh Solanki has been given the command of Jammu and Kashmir.
The party has made Manikrao Thackeray in-charge of Goa, Daman and Diu and Dadka and Nagar Haveli.
Girish Chodankar has been given the responsibility of Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur and Nagaland.
Manikam Tagore has been made in-charge of Andhra Pradesh and Andaman Nicobar. Gurdeep Singh Sappal has been made administration in-charge.
