New Delhi: Sanjay Arora has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police. The Ministry of Home Affairs conveyed the approval of the competent authority of Sanjay Arora. He underwent inter-cadre deputation from Tamil Nadu cadre to the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory) Cadre. He will be succeeding Rakesh Asthana.
IPS of 1988 Batch
Sanjay Arora is an IPS of the 1988 Tamil Nadu Batch. He has been appointed at the post of Commissioner of Police of Delhi. The order was issued by the Director, B G Krishnan.
He was the DG ITBP
He earlier held the post of Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The post will now be held by SL Thaosen, DG SSB (Director General of Sahastra Seema Bal). He has been given an additional charge.
Sanjay Arora’s educational and professional career
Sanjay Arora holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He graduated from the Malviya National Institute of Technology in Jaipur. He has spearheaded various operations throughout his career. He had also held the post of Tamil Nadu’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Special Task Force (STF).
Awards and Accolades
While in the post, Sanjay Arora was awarded CM’s Gallantry Medal. This came as a result of his significant operations against the famous gang of dacoit Veerappan. He was also lauded for playing a pivotal role for creation of Special Security Group (SSG) For Tamil Nadu’s CM. He did this “during the heydays of LTTE activity” as informed by the Home Ministry.
He had also received President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the UN Peacekeeping Medal.
