Bhubaneshwar, Odisha: In a shocking incident that came to light in Bhubaneshwar, a 22-year-old boy was reportedly found hanging at his grandparents’ house late Monday evening in the Baramunda area. The youth, identified as Rahul Gochhayat, allegedly died by suicide due to emotional distress related to a romantic relationship. His untimely death has left the community in shock.
According to reports, Rahul, a resident of the Dalit Sahi area, was known for his kind nature. Police recovered his body on Tuesday and sent it for post-mortem examination at a hospital in Bhubaneshwar. An investigation has been initiated into the matter, however, the reason for his death remains unclear as of now. Additionally, officials have refrained from making any statement regarding the incident.
Family Alleges Emotional Distress
A case of unnatural death has been registered at the local police station. Meanwhile, his family had alleged that he was under emotional distress due to a love affair. They further claimed that the girl may have exerted extreme psychological pressure on Rahul. The incident has sparked chaos in the area, and his post-mortem report is currently awaited. More light will be shed on the matter after the reports come.
Rahul’s Sister Demands Justice
Odisha TV quoted his sister as saying, “My brother was a bright and caring boy. He was in love, but things had turned bitter in the past few weeks. He was mentally disturbed, and we tried to support him, but we had no idea that it would end like this. We want justice for Rahul. He had asked me for money to buy some food, and later, the incident occurred. The girl’s family claims that there was a relationship.”
