BEWARE Of E-Challan Scams! How Scammers Smart Play and How You Can Outsmart Them?

E-Challan have made work of people easier by making people pay the fine online. But seeing these things E-Challan scams are rising day by day. Where scammer are sending fake e-challan messages, trying to rick people into paying the fines for the rule they didn’t break. Here is how you can spot these scams and stay Vigilant all the time.

How Scammers Plays Out

  1. Fake SMS and E-mail Alert
    Scammers sent the messages to people via SMS or E-mails. People get message like, “Immediate action needed” Your E-Challan is overdue,” with a payment link attached to it. By clicking on it people may lose more than they think.
  2. By Being A Traffic Police
    Some scammers even call and pretend to be a police officer. Then tries to put pressure on you and ask to make a quick payment. They make scare you by giving warning that if you don’t pay, you would land into legal trouble.
  3. By Making Fake Payment Website
    They send you links which makes you land into some unreal website, which may look like the official one. If you try to pay it from there your all bank details go directly to the scammer.
  4. By Grabbing Your Information
    Some of the fake site made by them, take your bank details along with your personal information. The information may include Bank details, OTPs, Name, Mobile Number etc.

How You Can Avoid A Fake E-Challan:

  1. Check The Sender
    Officials e-challans come from authorized site or number, but if you get it from unknown end, be cautious.
  2. Beware Of Demand Of Urgency
    Scammer tries to get money from people by using words like, immediate, urgent etc. If the message sounds like this, do double check and be cautious.
  3. Use Official Site
    Avoid clicking on texts or links. Use Official site for making payment of your e-challan. https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/
  4. Call Police if Unsure
    If you feel the site, the message or the call for e-challan is not safe, report to the police.

Before opening any link, site or message you have to make sure that things are sent by officials and if you have doubt on it, then report it to the police.
