According to a report by Times of India, the drones called SkyStrikers were used to carry out precise attacks on terror camps in Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistan. These camps belonged to terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The drones, also known as loitering munitions, can fly over an area, find enemy targets, and destroy them by exploding, working like flying suicide bombs.

What’s So Special About These Drones?

Where did the drones used in this mission come from? They were reportedly built in an industrial area in western Bengaluru. The SkyStriker drones were made through a partnership between Alpha Design Technologies, a Bengaluru-based company, and Israel’s Elbit Systems. According to the report, the Indian Army had ordered over 100 of these drones in 2021, expecting them to be useful in future battles after the Balakot airstrike.

Each SkyStriker drone carries either a 5kg or 10kg explosive and can fly up to 100 kilometers. It uses an electric motor, which makes very little noise, allowing it to fly quietly and stay hidden, even at low heights. The drone can guide itself and hit targets accurately, making it act like a missile that’s also hard to spot or stop.

The SkyStriker is known to be a low-cost, advanced weapon that helps soldiers stay safe and aware during missions, especially in special forces operations. These drones can directly attack important enemy targets from the air without putting soldiers in danger.

Elbit Systems says the SkyStriker works like a drone but hits with the speed and surprise of a missile. The company described it as a “silent, invisible, and surprise attacker” that gives armies a big advantage in modern warfare by being both accurate and dependable.
