A woman faced a terrifying incident at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. The woman narrowly escaped the dangerous situation after boarding the cab at the airport. A fake Ola cab driver tried to extort money from her late night, prompting the woman to seek urgent help.
When the woman took the exit from airport and moved towards the pickup zone. The man driving a sedan told her that he will drop her home, despite having her having requested a mini cab ride.
The woman mentioned the incident by posting it in her X handle. She mentioned that, “almost got trafficked/raped/looted/assaulted by a random cab driver who was let in by BLR Airport in the Ola pickup station & impersonated to be one at terminal 1 of BLR airport at 10:30pm had I not called 112, I’d not be here typing this”.

According to the police complaint filed by the woman, she agreed and got into the cab. She noticed that the cab driver did not ask the OTP before the ride. Also, he didn’t have the official Ola App. Instead he asked her to enter destination in the map.
As the ride starts, the driver allegedly demanded additional fare and when the woman didn’t agreed with his point. Then the driver suggested another cab driver. Feeling unsafe she asked to drop her back to the pickup stand at airport. The driver ignored her request. Later he stopped the car at petrol pump and demanded Rs 500 for fuel. After this the woman dialed 112, the emergency helpline number.
Woman posted, saying, “Maybe he did all this only for extra bucks, maybe he had worse intentions, maybe he was intoxicated, I DO NOT KNOW. I was lucky enough to escape the worst around 11pm in the middle of nowhere; being on call with a male friend, helped me to call 112 asap & I acted swiftly”.
