Metro is the life of commuters who are using it to reach the office or any other place. Bengaluru which is the IT hub of the country is going to get another gift this year. This will be in form of a Metro line.
This is going to be the first driverless train for the Namma Mtero’s yellow route. The metro train is likely to reach Bengaluru by January 20, 2025. According to media reports, the yellow route of the Namma Metro is likely to get operational in April 2025 with four trains and the interval between the trains could extend up to 30 minutes said officials.
The Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, a rolling stock manufacturer, on Monday delivered the first domestically-produced driverless train. This is for the 19.15-km metro line. It will be connecting RV Road to Bommasandra.
The hand over of the train took place in Uttarpara in West Bengal. This happened in the presence of the Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya and Director of BMRL MN Dhoke.
The Titagarh Rail Systems Limited announced that they will deliver an additional two trainsets for this yellow route. The train with 6 coaches will be using the Communication Based Train Control signaling technology for this man-less operations.
About The Contract
The Titagarh Rail Systems Limited is making 34 out of 36 trains as part of the contract worth Rs 1,578 crore given to CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd of China. The contract was given in 2019. Under this 15 trains are being developed for the Yellow and others for the Purple & Green route.
