Bengaluru: A 32-year-old man, Shabarish, tragically lost his life in Bengaluru on Diwali night after accepting a dare from his friends to sit on a box of firecrackers.

The Incident
On October 31, during Diwali celebrations, Shabarish and his friends, who were reportedly intoxicated, made a reckless wager. His friends offered to buy him an autorickshaw if he agreed to sit on a box of firecrackers. Captured by CCTV, the footage shows Shabarish accepting the dare and sitting on the firecracker box, which his friends then lit before stepping back.

Immediate Aftermath
Following the ignition, the box exploded, and Shabarish was seen collapsing in agony. His friends quickly surrounded him, and he was transported to a hospital for urgent medical care. Sadly, despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on November 2.
Arrests Made
In the wake of this tragic event, the Konanakunte police took action, arresting six individuals connected to Shabarish’s death. They face charges of culpable homicide. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South Lokesh, Shabarish, who was unemployed, took the dare in hopes of improving his situation with the promised autorickshaw.
This incident highlights the severe risks associated with dangerous dares and irresponsible use of fireworks during celebrations, urging a need for increased awareness and safety measures during festive occasions.
