Bengaluru: First Double-Decker Flyover To Link Key Namma Metro Stations, Likely To Be Ready By…

Bengaluru's first double-decker flyover, connecting Silk Board Junction with Ragigudda, is set to be fully operational by mid-2025.

Bengaluru’s first double-decker flyover from Silk Board Junction to Ragigudda will be operated by mid-2025, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL). The upper tier from RV Road to Bommasandra of the flyover is for the Namma Metro line, while the lower is for vehicles.

Last year in July 2024, the flyover was partially opened for vehicles heading towards Silk Road. For allowing the traffic for Ragigudda, the BMRCL expedites the remaining work, including the HSR layout and BTM layout.

“Barring four to five pillars required for building the ramp, the rest of the pillars are completed on a nearly one kilometre stretch. As the ramp would traverse over Silk Board Junction and the newly constructed ramp (connecting Hosur Road), we have built 24-metre pillars to build the ramp from HSR Layout to BTM Layout. Once integrated with the existing road flyover on the BTM Layout side, motorists will be able to travel to Ragigudda Metro station without facing a traffic signal.” said a BMRCL official as quoted by Times of India.

The 19-km yellow line was built as a double-decker flyover by BMRCL. Due to non availability of metro coaches the project is getting delayed.

At Silk Board, BMRCL intends to integrate two metro stations. The Silk Board station on the Yellow Line is located on the west side of the junction, while another station on the Blue Line (Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport) is approaching from the east side. The distance between the stations is approximately 300 metres. BMRCL plans to connect both stations via a travelator.
