The Beawar-Bharatpur Expressway will be developed as a greenfield expressway in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan government proposed the project in its 2024 budget announcement. The approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) enables the initiation of survey work. The National Highway Authority of India requires eighteen months to complete the survey.
The Greenfield Expressway will span a total distance of 342 kilometers. The project aims to improve traffic connectivity between Beawar and Bharatpur while also reducing travel time. The appropriation of approximately 3,175 hectares of land will be required. Project financing will be secured after the completion of the survey for the Beawar-Bharatpur expressway construction. Highway construction will commence following the survey phase.
In last year’s state budget, the government announced the construction of nine greenfield expressways in Rajasthan, including the Beawar-Bharatpur Expressway. The current budget includes multiple directives for the construction of state highways, bypass roads, flyovers, elevated roads, road overbridges (ROB), road underbridges (RUB), as well as road rehabilitation and strengthening operations. This expressway will extend from NH-58 to NH-21 in Bharatpur. From NH-58, it will pass through Gulabpura, Kekri, Todaraisingh, Uniara, Tonk, and Niwai before reaching Bharatpur.
New roads will be implemented in areas lacking existing connectivity to integrate them into the new highway. The current travel time between Beawar and Bharatpur is 7-8 hours for a 370-kilometer journey. The newly constructed expressway will reduce travel time while bypassing urban areas. All routes passing through the project area will be interconnected. Constructing the expressway through unpopulated zones will minimize turns, preserving vehicle speed.
