Baramulla Encounter: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Binnar area of Baramulla district adjoining the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir late on Saturday night. The terrorists opened fire in an attempt to escape by breaking a siege by the security forces.
The security forces also retaliated. This is the second encounter between security forces and terrorists in Baramulla during the last 24 hours.
Earlier on Saturday morning, a 14-tear-old Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist was killed by the security forces in an encounter in Vanigam Bala area.
Regarding the ongoing encounter in Binner, a police officer said that this operation has been launched on the information of local villagers. The villagers had informed the nearby police post that some suspicious elements were seen in the village when it was dark. After that the police, along with the army and CRPF personnel, conducted a search operation.
At 11 o’clock in the night, when the soldiers were moving forward while searching, the terrorists hiding at one place opened fire on them. Since then, intermittent firing has been going on from both sides. The encounter was going on till late night.
Meanwhile, the security forces have succeeded in killing a terrorist in the morning. This is the 76th encounter between security forces and terrorists in Kashmir this year. So far 130 terrorists have been killed in various encounters in Kashmir. Of these, 33 are said to be Pakistani.
One terrorist killed in the Baramulla encounter. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition have been recovered. A search operation is going on.
