Bansuri Swaraj, Daughter of the late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and Member of Parliament from the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency took oath in Parliament on Monday. During the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, while other MPs took their oaths, Bansuri Swaraj’s oath in Sanskrit added a distinct atmosphere to the Parliament proceedings.
Bansuri Swaraj is following in her mother’s footsteps. Just like Sushma Swaraj did when she first became a Member of Parliament, Bansuri Swaraj also took her oath in Sanskrit in Parliament. Sushma Swaraj was elected as a Lok Sabha member in the 16th Lok Sabha.

Bansuri Swaraj has also shared a video of her oath-taking ceremony. She wrote, ‘Today, I am honored to take oath as a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha representing the New Delhi parliamentary constituency. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of a developed, prosperous, and self-reliant India.’
Bansuri Swaraj has entered Parliament for the first time, defeating Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Somnath Bharti by a significant margin in the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat. She secured 453,185 votes while Somnath Bharti received 374,815 votes, leading Bansuri to win by a margin of 78,370 votes over the AAP candidate.
