A clash erupted between the police and followers of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. A lawyer got killed during that clash. This incident took place on Tuesday in the Chattogram Court building area.
The deceased is identified as Saiful Islam, 32, is the member of Chattogram District Court Bar Association. Saiful was taken to Chittagong Medical Collège Hospital, where he was announced dead by the physicians around 4:00 pm, said In-charge CMCH police camp, Nurul Islam.
Eyewitness & President of Chattogram District Court Bar Association Nazim Uddin Chowdhury said that, when the clash was going on some Chinmoy supporters, who were protesting in the court premises, dragged him to the Rangam Convention Hall and hacked him, as per reports of The Daily Star.
An employee of the Golum Rasul Market, Mohammad Didar with some locals rescued him and brought him to the hospital, as per reports of The Daily Star.
According to The Daily Star, at least 10 people got injured during the clash, which include journalists. Five out of them took treatment from CMCH.
Earlier, Chinmoy the spokesperson of Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote was sent to jail by Metropolitan Magistrate Kazi Shariful Islam. He was sent to jail on the charges of disrespecting the national flag.
After the order from the court came, his followers started protesting. They tried to stop the van carrying Chinmoy. After this Border Guard Bangladesh and police fired some sound grenades.
